Gulruh Hatun Tomb
Overview
Gülruh Hatun, II. She was known as Bayezid's wife and a philanthropic woman. He carried out many charitable works, such as a mosque in Akhisar and a school in Bursa, and also donated many shops, baths, inns and mills, and had his own tomb built while he was alive. The construction date of the tomb dates back to 1527, and Gülruh Hatun's death occurred a few years later.
16th century hand-carved works in the tomb; It is one of the best examples of hand-carved decorations of the period with its color, pattern and decoration composition. These original hand-drawn works, which were plastered and covered with Baroque ornaments in the late 19th century, were revived by plaster scraping during the restoration works in 2013.
There are four marble tombs in the tomb. According to historical records, these graves; II. It belongs to Bayezid's wife Gülruh Hatun, his daughter Kamer Sultan, Prince Alemşah's daughter Fatma Sultan and Kamer Sultan's son Osman.
The tomb, which underwent a comprehensive restoration by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality between 2013 and 2014, is located within the area declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
