Alaçatı Pazaryeri Mosque
Overview
Alaçatı Pazaryeri Mosque was also known as Ayios Konstantinos Church in the past. Built by Yuhannis Halapes in the 19th century (1874), the building functions as both a mosque and a church with minor renovations. The church, which has three naves and a basilica plan, was built using the rubble stone technique. The vaulted superstructure is covered with a gable roof in the central nave and a porch roof in the side naves. The narthex in the west has two floors and its galleries partially extend over the north and south naves. The iconostasis section was preserved in its original form, and a mihrab was added to the south. Today, the narthex section has been closed and turned into shops. The entrance is from the north. The single balconied cut stone minaret, which was added later, can be entered from the outside.
