Gebekirse Lake
Overview
Famous for its slightly salty waters, this lake hosts a significant variety of wildlife. In addition to threatened bird species such as the elmabaş pochard, turtle dove and pasbaş pochard, many other bird species also live in this region. Wild mammals such as jackals, foxes and wild boars are also frequently seen around the lake, where a mid-winter water bird count is held every year in the second half of January. This natural habitat is of great importance for the protection and observation of biodiversity.
